Southwest Research Institute®(SwRI®), founded in 1947, is a premier independent, nonprofit research and development organization using multidisciplinary services to provide solutions to some of the world's most challenging scientific and engineering problems.
The Institute occupies 1,200 acres in San Antonio, Texas, and provides more than 2 million square feet of laboratories, test fascilities, workshops and offices for more than 3,000 employees who conduct thousands of research projects spanning deep sea to deep space... and everything in between.
For more than 40 years, SwRI has developed spaceflight instrumentation for NASA and other government agencies, and has served as the principal investigator institution for multiple NASA missions in heliophysics and planetary science. More about SwRI
The Earth, Oceans, and Space Department was established in 2013 as part of the SwRI Space Science and Engineering Division. SwRI-EOS is co-located with the University of New Hampshire (UNH) Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans, and Space, which provides an important synergy between Southwest Research Institute and UNH. SwRI-EOS conducts spaceflight and suborbital research projects for industry and government. Projects are focused on heliophysics, astrophysics, and Earth sciences. SwRI-EOS staff members have over 100 combined years of spaceflight and suborbital experience. The associated skillset is applicable to a wide range of applications, extending well beyond space-based projects. Link_to_UNH-EOS
